Original Watercolor paintings of Turkey, Istanbul and Central Asia
Ewen MacDonald was born and grew up in the UK. He studied History at University College London and later at the Institute of Education, London. His work has taken him from the inner city of London to the deserts of Central Asia. He is now living on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey. His style is a refreshing mix of watercolour, oil pastels and acrylics. He paints traditional landscapes and cityscapes with a contemporary twist. This present collection reflects the artist’s environment whether it is the Pamir mountains, the lush greenery of the English countryside or the pulse of historic Istanbul. His original watercolour paintings are for sale, they are also available as prints. See also emacdonaldwatercolours.com and Watercolouristanbul.blogspot
Reviews
Ewen MacDonald follows in the grand tradition of British water-colourists who, like Turner, have found inspiration on their travels. Ewen’s current works describe the ethereal atmosphere and light of Istanbul and its surroundings. His paintings and prints form series of explorations of the play of dappled sunlight on the architecture and flora of the Bosphorus. His pictures also poetically reference the rich cultural history of this region, treating the gallery visitor to the sights and sounds of a tour of the Near East.
